DEVELOPMENT OF AN IMPROVED HIERARCHICAL CONTROL SYSTEM USING THE METAHEURISTIC PID TUNER FOR DC MICROGRIDS

This paper presents the development of improved hierarchical control system using metaheuristic centralized PID tuner for DC microgrids. Hierarchical is one best strategies employed in photovoltaics (PV) based microgrids with three layers primary, secondary, and tertiary controllers which at center each these layered levels. The principal objective primary controller to ensure near-equal power sharing among units secondary correct deviations common link, while used manage energy flow or between microgrid main utility grid. Partial shading, uncertain nature solar irradiation, varying temperatures significantly reduce overall efficiency traditionally tuned control-based systems, since tuning gains are not adaptive dynamic processes. To optimize process, a novel considered moth-flame optimization adapt variations. Matlab/Simulink simulations performed verify proposed approach. results highlight superiority method by utilizing process gains.
